Mothers Day 2015

On Mothers Day I not only feel celebrated by my own family, but I spend a great deal of time thinking of those mothers who I have watched transition into motherhood. What a priviledge it is to bear witness to this miracle. To all the mothers out there who were once my clients, but are now my friends, please know I am thinking of you all today and am clebrating your bravery and strength.

I love this photo. It so perfectly captures the moment Enzo was brought into the world.  It was a moment of pure joy.  I had done it, a beautiful, fast, unmedicated birth.

Welcome earth-side Enzo Joseph.  The Diamond Doula, otherwise known to you as Mommy, loves you so-

Special Diamond Doula Delivery Announcement!

Special Diamond Doula Delivery Announcement!

Guess what folks? The Diamond Doula has her third little gem on the way!! I am in my third trimester and expect the little one to make HIS appearance around Halloween give or take a few weeks.

This pregnancy has been a bit of a doozy.  I was very sick for the first 14 weeks, much sicker than with my other two pregnancies.  Once I came out of that, we experienced a death in the family that rocked my world.  This wee one has been through quite a lot and is yet to see the light of day. For this reason, I know he will be a special boy and will bring only wonderful things to our family and the world.

I am happy to say that I have been working as a doula throughout my pregnancy.  In fact, I have 1 client left waiting to deliver any day now.  I can just hear the hospital staff now with all the, 'which one of you is here to have the baby today?' jokes...  Despite the regular third trimester stuff like occasional back pain, tiredness and general discomfort, I feel ready to assist this first time mom with the arrival of her little diamond.

I will be taking a maternity leave from doula work until approximately February 1, but I will keep you all up to date with the specifics of that as the time draws closer.

In the meantime, wish me luck with my special delivery.  And yes, I will have a doula.  No other than the OG, DOULA1 license plate holder herself, my mom, Mary Weiss Fauls.  I hope she'll give me a discount...

Diamond Doula Care Featured In Sheridan Road Magazine!

Diamond Doula Care Featured In Sheridan Road Magazine!

Thank you Sheridan Road Magazine for doing such a wonderful article on not only Diamond Doula Care, but doulas in general.  Any mainstream exposure to doula care is a major win for the profession and DDC is thrilled to have been the conduit.

And finally- the Doula Mobile is getting the street cred it deserves for being so awesome!

Two Diamond Doulas

Two Diamond Doulas

Here I am with my mom, my doula mentor Mary Fauls.  She has been a doula for 15 years and often acts as my back-up.  She is the BEST.

*Note she is sitting on a yoga ball, such a doula move.
